Climate change is the great challenge of our time, to which MUSA CASCAIS Community intends to respond.
MUSA CASCAIS promotes sustainability and minimization of resource consumption:
- We separate and recycle waste produced
- We offset carbon emissions
- We offer sustainable routes to the festival
- We offer organic and fair trade products
- We prefer the use of less polluting communication tools, giving preference to:
. Web 2.0
. Use of sustainable forest management paper
. Certified graphics
. Low environmental impact promotion materials
. All the cups used in MUSA CASCAIS are certified eco-cups in order to have a lower environmental impact
COMMUNICATION
The main focus of our media use is web 2.0 communication, because this type of information vehicle is based on the premise of a more sustainable communication.
AWARENESS
The whole theme of the festival is based on the premise of sustainability. Therefore, from our communication, through the MUSA pre-events to the Main Event, we always keep in mind the guiding line of sustainability. The Remada MUSA CASCAIS is a good example of this effort where we intend to alert to the importance of the oceans.
COMPENSATION OF CARBON EMISSIONS
MUSA CASCAIS FESTIVAL in partnership with Cascais Ambiente officially has a field in the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park where it compensates for the carbon emissions emitted by the event through planting trees in its fields. However, carbon reduction does not just happen by planting trees. Forest conservation is equally important - protecting planted trees from invasive species are actions we carry out regularly. Up to now, more than 650 trees have been planted in various actions taken by festival audiences and volunteering. The last action was taken on April 28, 2018.
PUBLIC
From the study and the surveys carried out on MUSA CASCAIS we have verified that the biggest carbon footprint produced by the festival comes from the public itself. The festival venue and the campsite are near the beach and is 300 meters from Carcavelos CP Station and the Central Bus Station. In a partnership with CP we have special trains at the festival closing time in order to give the public the opportunity to come and go home through public transportation and by this way help planet earth to breathe a little better.
Another implemented measure is the first official association for carpooling. We put together drivers who have free seats in their car with passengers who are looking for an alternative and cheaper way to travel. Carpooling is a great way to preserve the environment!
TRANSPORTATION
The train travel costs the public only 2 euros on the Cascais, Sintra, Azambuja and Sado lines. For long distance trains there is a 30% discount. This way, the public can travel in an environmentally friendly transport and with reduced costs for your wallet. The carpooling also gives you access to travel in a more economic and different way.
The bicycle park is another area we implemented with the aim of getting our audience to travel to the festival in an even more sustainable and environmentally friendly way.
CULTURE ACCESSIBLE BY ALL
This is a very pertinent theme at MUSA CASCAIS FESTIVAL.
Differently from other festivals we think culture must and should be within the reach of all. It's something we believe since 1999.
This independent, nonprofit event believes that we should not deny culture to people.
We feel that we have been able to offer a luxury lineup, combined with an excellent surrounding infrastructure, at a very affordable value.
VOLUNTEERING
MUSA CASCAIS is based on volunteering. Hundreds of volunteers live and lived this experience through non-formal educational methods. We know that once you are integrated into volunteering you are enriched with better bases for your personal and professional life.
REDUCED MOBILITY
MUSA CASCAIS FESTIVAL is for everyone!
THE TICKET 1 + 1 CONDITIONED MOBILITY: 2 tickets for the price of 1, is a way to let the person with reduced mobility can feel all the best vibrations of the festival next to those who like.
In order to get the most out of this experience, there is a reserved car park for people with disabilities or reduced mobility next to the main entrance, a raised platform for a better view of the concerts and an accessible bathroom next to the elevated platform. In order to have the best experience we always have a specialized support by MUSA CASCAIS volunteers.
